My 2019 Goals

Wow 2018 is really over already? I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Years! If I'm honest, it's been a very steady year for me, no huge highs or huge lows but it's been good overall and I'm going into 2019 with not so much 'resolutions' but a few goals that I want to achieve for myself and my family. I find that if I make promises to myself to change big parts of my life then it very rarely comes to light so I'm going to focus on the little things this year and see how we go from there :) So let's get into it...bring on 2019! 🙌

Get Cassius into a good nursery
I've been really slack up until now when it comes to nursery for baby bear as he started out as quite anxious around other people that he wasn't close too but now that he's growing up so rapidly, he's blossoming into such a confident little guy. So I'm looking forward to finally getting my shit into gear and hopefully getting him on the waiting list of a good nursery for when he turns 2 in June. I know he'll love being able to have some independence and the chance to make friends and learn new things so this is my first priority!

Find a part time job that I love
I've been out of work for probably over 2/3 years now due to a various array of reasons that I won't bore you with, but 2019 is the year that I wanna put myself back out there and become more social overall. My anxiety is worse than ever from being stuck indoors all the time and not having a job to focus on and with Cass potentially having nursery in the summer, this will be the perfect chance for me to dip my toes back into the working world and back to normal life. Better late than never, right?

Get implant out to fix my hormone mess
Ever since having my implant put in a few months after having Cassius, my quality of life has changed pretty dramatically. I have had an implant before, years and years ago, but it seems this time its affected me differently and has generally made me miserable. I can feel that my hormones are all over the place and I hate the changes it has had on me physically and mentally so it's gotta go!

Put more effort into my blog
I'm quite sad that for the most part of 2018, I only published 2 posts a month here on my blog despite having notepads filled with content ideas. I pretty much had my blog on standby for whenever I was bored but didn't put as much effort into it as I would have liked so this year I wanna dedicate more time into revamping my layout, connecting with other bloggers/readers, posting at least once a week and generally just appreciating my little space on the internet more.

Move into our own home
I know I said I'm focusing on small goals this year and moving out is quite a big goal, but hey, a girl can dream! We've been cramped in my mum's house; sleeping on the sofa downstairs whilst Cassius takes over my bedroom and his mounds of stuff builds up and makes us look like hoarders...so I think it's time we get our own place. I miss having an actual room where I can do my make up and sleep without people knocking on the door and walking in on our 'bedroom' area. So fingers crossed we'll find somewhere this year, god knows where I wanna live but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it!

Take better care of myself - mentally and physically
80% of my life has been taking care of other people and now that I'm 25, have my own little family and am hoping to find our forever home and start a proper life, I think it's about time I take care of myself too. My mental health suffered a lot in 2018, over the silliest of things, and I don't want to go another year where I'm stuck in bed and don't wanna go out because my mind is playing with me. I want to be strong and healthy, mentally and physically, so that I can live my best life and Cass can be proud of me. It's gonna be all about the vitamins, getting out and about, learning when to say no, etc etc etc.

Learn how to drive
I swear driving is always on my list of goals, no matter what time of year it is but this year I really do wanna smash it. I'm so tired of having to walk or take the bus with a huge pram and looking like a sweaty mess as I pack everything whilst keeping Cassius happy and getting to where I need to be on time (which never happens anyway!). Having my own car and freedom to take Cass anywhere will change my life and I'm not gonna keep making excuses for it anymore, it needs to happen and it will!

What are your goals / resolutions for 2019? I'd love to know in the comments!

  1. Good luck with those goals, mama! This a good mix of big and little, as well as personal and family goals. I think it's really smart to try and break life down into these categories and focus on each individually. Happy 2019!

    1. Thanks lovely! It's the only way I can not feel like crap for failing my resolutions every year :P Happy 2019 to you too, hope you've had a good start to the year! x

  2. You being a mom is already a real hard work. I might not be a mom but babysitting on the side made me see what I will be getting myself into in case I wanted to be one in the future. If I will be honest, it's something that I am not sure I can do. Moms are superheroes. I wish you all the best and I know the stars will align for you. Cheers! =)

    1. Aww this is super sweet, but if I can do it, so can you! As hard as it can be at times, the cuddles and milestones make it SO worth it :) Thank you hun, wishing you all the best for 2019 too! x

  3. Good luck with all of these goals! Honestly nurseries fill up so fast I'd start calling around your local ones as soon as possible and go for show rounds to see if you like them, I work in one and we're already taking bookings for September! We're moving into our own home soon and while we won't be able to save much for nice holidays and it's going to be stressful it'll definitely be worth it in the long run, I hope you find somewhere as well as a job!

    1. I couldn't believe how quickly they fill up D: I've got an appointment for our first choice tomorrow morning so fingers crossed we get in, otherwise we'll be hitting up some other options :) I bet! Good luck moving house, I'm sure it'll be amazing to have your own place once the stress settles xx

  5. I love that you have goals to improve your life for this year. So many people are against having New Year’s resolutions now, but I don’t see anything wrong with using the calendar to reflect on the past and look forward to what they can do to improve their lives. While you CAN do it any time of the year, the start of the year is a great time too. We just uploaded an entire episode dedicated to our “19 for 2019” goals, so I won’t try to list them here. I will just say that we are looking to up level all of our efforts, so that we can create the life we’ve dreamed of (where our creativity earns us a wonderful living). Thanks for reminding me how important it is to have goals.

    1. I have noticed how having New Years resolutions isn’t a thing so much anymore...Oh nice, I’ll head over and check that out tonight :) Sounds like a pretty damn good goal to me!

  6. I couldn't imagine myself being out of work for a few years, nor can I imagine how difficult it has been for you. Anxiety troubles can be such a life killer. I hope you can get back on track on that front and find a great nursery for your little boy too! 2019 will be the year you claim a bit of freedom for yourself and him.

  7. Some lovely goals here! I love how you've created goals to improve your life for this year that's lovely! Moving into your own home would be lovely, I currently have the same goal. It is hard but you just have to push yourself. Also learning to drive would be great! That would give you some amazing freedom. Thank-you for sharing your goals!

  8. This sounds like a great list of goals Jess, I hope you achieve everything you want to! Moving into your own place and learning to drive sound like fantastic goals, it is lovely to have a bit of freedom and space. I was so anxious about learning to drive, but it turned out it wasn't so bad after all and gets easier and easier each time you get in the car. Good luck girl, hope 2019 is a wonderful year <3 xx
